HuffPo - Hey, What’s Up With Gary Johnson?

Wouldn't it be refreshing for the POTUS to be someoneone you'd want to kick back with and maybe go for a run?
Johnson has a lot of unimpeachably good qualities. He’s a really nice and decent guy. He’s a triathlete and an avid outdoorsman who has actually climbed Mount Everest. He met his wife, Kate Prusack, on a bike ride, which is pretty romantic. He built his own home, likes legal weed, humane immigration policies, and ticks off that “fiscal conservative/social liberal“ box many people say they like. I can’t recall him ever going out of his way to make anyone feel bad.

He was also the governor of New Mexico, and if you haven’t noticed, New Mexico still exists. He didn’t destroy it. Read about it here, courtesy of the New Mexico Political Report.

So, you know, not too shabby!

Gary Johnson at 4% in new PPP poll 5-10-16

It's not quite the 11% that the Monmouth poll in March had Gary at but it's a start. It should be noted that the Monmouth poll was 36% I - 34% D - 30% R where PPP is 43% D - 36% R - 21% I.
PPP's new national poll finds that Republicans have quickly unified around Donald Trump, making the Presidential race more competitive than it has previously been perceived to be.

Hillary Clinton leads Trump 42-38, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 4% and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 2%. In a match up just between Clinton and Trump, her lead expands to 47-41. That's because supporters of Johnson and Stein would prefer her over Trump 36-18. Although there's been a lot of talk about third party candidates drawing support away from Trump, they're actually taking a little bit more from Clinton at this point.

National Review - Is the Libertarian Party’s Gary Johnson a Plausible Alternative to Trump and Clinton?

National Review 5/7/2016
Good news, disgruntled Americans: As you ponder whether to vote for one of the two most-disliked, dishonest, and morally corrupt politicians ever to run for president — Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton — you just might have a third option. His name is Gary Johnson. He’s a popular two-term former governor of New Mexico. He’s the likely Libertarian party nominee. And he’s set to be on the ballot in the vast majority of states. Moreover, the short case for him is pretty compelling.

Johnson is a self-made man, starting a handyman business in college that grew into a 1,000-employee construction firm. He ran for governor as a fiscal conservative in a blue state, won handily, and can now boast that he cut taxes, vetoed hundreds of bills, presided over significant job growth, balanced the state budget, and created a substantial reserve fund. He won reelection in a rout.

Johnson is an extraordinarily strong gun-rights advocate, and he favors free trade, but he’s far too committed to relatively open borders — advocating a “simpler and more efficient” process for entering the country.

He calls himself pro-choice, but he’s well to the right of Hillary Clinton — supporting late-term abortion bans, parental-notification laws, and opposing public funding for abortion — and he’s indicated that he’d appoint judges “who will interpret the Constitution according to its original meaning.” He also believes Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided because it “expanded the reach of the Federal government into areas of society never envisioned in the Constitution.” In the past, Johnson has indicated that he’d rather leave abortion policy to the states.

Being generous, one could even call him a sort of peaceful Teddy Roosevelt: an adventurer politician. He’s run dozens of triathlons, he’s climbed the highest mountain on all seven continents (including Mount Everest), and he built his house with his own hands. So, on balance, Gary Johnson for president, right?

A New Message From Gary Johnson

Our America: It’s time…

Friends,

In 2009, the Our America Initiative was founded to provide a platform to raise issues and give voice to Americans who believe the path to renewed greatness for our country lies in a truly smaller government and greater liberty.

As Barack Obama begins another four years in the White House, and as we watch the politicians in Washington continue the absurd spending and taxing that has given us a wrecked economy and $16 trillion in unsustainable debt, never has the need to shrink government and increase freedom been greater.

That’s why I have rejoined the Our America Initiative as its Honorary Chairman.  With your help, we have created an organization of thousands of activists, young people and defenders of liberty who share the principles of smaller government that are so desperately needed today.  And I am excited to help mobilize those thousands of Americans to have a real impact on the decisions and policies Washington will be making in the weeks and months to come.

In the next few months, Obama and the Congress will be deciding what to do — or NOT do — about the fact that we have once again hit the nation’s debt ceiling.  Will they FINALLY face the fact that the government is simply spending far more than we can afford?  Or will they find yet another way to dance around that reality?

With chaos continuing in places like Syria, Libya and Mali, will the politicians again decide to send our troops and our money to intervene in conflicts with no clear U.S. interest?  And will the government be allowed to keep up its attack on our individual and constitutional rights of privacy, gun ownership and individual liberty?

All these questions will be answered in the weeks and months ahead, and we MUST be heard.

Beginning in a few weeks, as Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative, I will be speaking on college campuses all across the nation.  I will be joined at those events by other leaders of the liberty movement who will help us put the energy of our young people to work.

Also, stay tuned for announcements very soon of nationally-known and respected leaders who will be joining the Our America Initiative as Honorary Board Members.  I can’t do this alone, and I’m excited to have other voices challenging the status quo on Our America’s behalf.

Of course, all of these activities, as well as the Internet and social media activism we will be doing and a wide range of additional outreach efforts, require funding.  Your support is essential!

I hope you will go to OurAmericaInitiative.com today and make a contribution to the Our America Initiative.  It is a 501(c)4 not-for-profit advocacy organization, and can accept contributions from individuals, corporations and other organizations, with no government-imposed limits.  The opportunity — and the need — to make ourselves heard on the national stage is great, and I am committed to making the best possible use of that opportunity on behalf of real liberty and economic freedom for all Americans.

We have much to do in a few short weeks as critical decisions about our nation are made by the politicians.  They need to know that more government and less freedom are not the solutions they claim to be seeking.  We’ve tried it their way. Now it is time to let liberty lead us to prosperity and the freedom we can achieve if government will get off our backs and out of our way.

Please join me.  Your support will make the difference.  Please go to OurAmericaInitiative.com or mail a check to Our America Initiative, PO Box 1985, Salt Lake City, UT 84110 so that we can put liberty and freedom back in the national debate!

Thanks, as always, for your friendship and support.
